Can usability techniques be applied to medical apps?

DATE: 17th May 2018
LOCATION: Oxford

Richard will be speaking at the monthly Oxford UX meeting on 17 May 2018.

In the talk Richard will look at how big pharma are putting great effort into developing apps in the hope that apps can aid patient compliance. However, at present these claims are largely untested. The international standard, IEC 62366, was developed with physical medical devices in mind but not apps, so can these principles be applied to medical apps?

As well as setting out Medical Device Usability’s (MDU) experience with app testing and the novel research currently being undertaken by MDU, Richard will discuss drawing out some of the challenges of providing rich data for app developers with the constraints imposed by regulators.
